From The Pastor's Desk

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

My prayers and blessings go out to all the mothers of the parish and indeed to mothers everywhere. I pray that the Lord will richly bless all of you. I know that the Lord shares my sentiments for all of you. Children, be good to Mom today.

MOTHER’S DAY ROSE SALE

This weekend we are selling red roses after all the Masses. The monies raised will be sent to Massachusetts Citizens for Life to help their efforts to bring protection to the babies still in the womb. The effort to save the yet to be born is an expensive affair. So, I urge you to buy a rose, bring it home to someone you love and help Massachusetts Citizens with their noble cause.

THE CATHOLIC APPEAL

If you have discarded the appeal material which you received in the mail, I have additional envelopes in the rear of the church. Please help the Cardinal with the expenses of running the archdiocese.

ORDINARY TIME

Tomorrow (Monday) the Church returns to what it calls Ordinary Time. We shall remain in Ordinary Time until the end of November. A lot has happen to Jesus during Lent, Holy Week and Easter time. Ordinary Time allows us to let these events sink in and allows us to reflect on what these events mean to us

PARISH COUNCIL

The Parish Council consists of nine elected members plus the director of religious education and myself. The elected members serve a three year term and the terms are arranged so that each year three of them end. Elected members can run for a second three year term but after two terms they must step down for a at least a year before they can run for the council again. This year three members of the council must leave because they have been on the council six years.

This is a good time to join the Parish Council. Every fully initiated member of the parish is eligible to stand for election. I also ask that you be someone who is an active member of the parish (church going). If you would like to run for the council or nominate someone for the council, please speak with me or to one of the members of the council. If an election will be needed it will be held on the weekend of June 21/22.

    Fr. Horrigan
